I enjoyed Sitges, a popular beach resort and nice town - if a Dali fan the Dali Museum at Figueras is now just a short train ride away by the new trans-Pyrenees high-speed rail line.

Montserrat is tops to me and you already have that penned in.

We took the train to Sant sadurni d'anoia and did a tour of the cava producer Codorniu. We had a really nice half day. The town is very walkable and there are wineries all over the place. The Freixenet winery is across the street from the railroad station. The town does close down between 2-5 so we weren't able to eat there, but instead took the train back to Barcelona for tapas.

Is there a web site for this high speed train?

as opaldog suggests a good visit, you might also like a visit to Torres at

Is there a web site for this high speed train>

www.renfe.com - Spanish Railways site - note there are also slower commuter trains to Figueras that take longer but you can just walk up and always get on - the TGV type trains demand advance reservations and charge much more. A good site for schedules of all European trains is the Wunderbar German Railways pan-European rail timetable - a good way to reach the English version where you put in Barcelona to Figueras and a date and you get all the various trains (a good way to access this site is to go to the home page of www.budgeteuropetravel.com and click on the link "Best Online European train schedules (or some such wording) and up pop the schedule page - I refer to this link because they also give you several useful tips to fully using it that mauy not be apparent to novice users.

Here's a link to tripadvisor with several reviews of a day trip to Codorniu http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUse...Catalonia.html

Montserrat will be more of a full day trip. Though I suppose if you got the earliest train to get you there at opening time you'd be able to leave before lunchtime and get back to Barcelona early afternoon. But it would be very rushed.

Sitges is great, and you could do it in half a day, but it's nice to have lunch at a restaurant by the beach and take your time to enjoy it.
