Best Day Trip from London

Depends on what you like and what you define as a daytrip.

Hampton Court is an easy half day excursion and well worth it. Greenwich is so cose that I don't consider that a daytrip out of London.

We also made a trip to Blenheim and Oxford that we enjoyed.

I find a question like this to be very hard to answer due to the fact that we all have different interest. So, if I enjoyed formal gardens I would most likely recommend one to go to. If, on the other hand you are into the Roman empire, I would direct you to something along that line. And if you were an old geezer like me with an interest in Military museums I would direct you to several. So, what is your most specific interest?

rogerdoger: From the OP's other thread - her husband can't walk much if at all. Makes a huge difference what sorts of days trips are possible.

mileagemaven: This thread doesn't give enough/anything to work w/ - all the important info is in your other thread. FYI - all threads are posted under Europe. There is no UK forum. Clicking on a country does let folks search for some threads about that country - but many threads will not show up that way.

I went to the original post and seems like you can manage to go by train, so what might work is a private tour within a specific area. I do know that local tours are available in York and by private hire as well. You might check out an individual who can pick you up at the train station and provide a drive in the area. I did similar trips on Skye and the Orkneys.
