Best Classical Music Performances in Vienna

Hi Everyone,

I will be in Vienna next week (I know, short notice) from Wednesday, April 26- to Friday, April 28. I have read the AWESOME thread from last year (http://www.fodors.com/community/euro...mendations.cfm), but I was hoping for some more specific recommendations. I was thinking of the "Der Bettelstudent" at VOLKSOPER (https://www.volksoper.at/produktion/...192986.de.html), but I want to make sure I'm not missing out on other options.

I was really hoping for the symphony, but it doesn't look like there is anything for either of those nights.

Also, if you have some cool Hungary things to do/see, feel free to throw them in your responses too

Don't know about "best", but here's what's going on:

They are in German of course. Composer names and program titles are universal, for anything else, use Google Translate.

The famed Vienna Philharmonic will not be playing on the dates you mentioned, but the Vienna Symphony Orchestra (a real, not "tourist" orchestra) has three concerts at the Great Hall of the Musikverein from April 26 to 28.

... with Mendelssohn's Italian Symphony, and in the Great hall of Musikverein... I'd attend that concert in an instant.

We were blessed with having heard Beethoven's 5th in Vienna.
My favorite.
