Best car/shuttle service from Paris to CDG

If we change some reservations and stay in Paris the last night of our visit, but need to be at the airport really early, we will need a car/shuttle service. We will want to be at CDG by about 5 am (so can't rely on RER or such or even some "normal" hotel/airport shuttles) so will have to arrange for pickup very very early. Which car/shuttle service would you recommend (just one way, from hotel in Paris to CDG)?

I found these so far
shuttle-inter
interserviceprestige
easyparistransfer

These all seem the same price and none seem to require advance payment. We'd prefer to have door-to-door personal pickup, not shared "shuttle" that even at 4ish am might be making stops.

If reliability is what you want, stay away from shuttle companies. Call Taxi G7 the night before for early morning pickup.

English speaking operator 01 41 27 66 99

Allow 45 minutes to reach CDG, if your flight is transatlantic, be at the airport 3 hours before scheduled departure.

Use a taxi. And be aware that most of the airline and other counters at CDG won't even be open at 5 am.

If you are in a hotel ask the desk to arrange for the taxi. Be aware that when it arrives, there will be charge on the meter, as it starts from the taxi stand from which they come.

I did use one of those services once as it turned out to be a day that was very busy, I forget why, and the hotel couldn't count on getting a taxi or couldn't get one, I forget. I was too nervous about missing the flight so used a private car service. I just used the one the hotel recommended, they had a regular one they used, it was about the same price as all the ones you name (I think 60 euro). Now I didn't arrange mind in advance, so I kind of had to go with the one they used, but I think that isn't a bad idea in general, as a company would want to keep in good relations with a hotel that gives them business. So ask your hotel about this.

Where are you flying to? You may not need to be at the airport by 5am. But I agree use a taxi.

Will the airline check-in counters be open at 5 AM?

Or stay in any of the airport hotels overnight. RER runs quite late so you can spend all day in the city. Our flight is at 9 am and we are doing it.

Thanks for all the info/advice. I was hoping there was something comparable in price/service/reliability to justairports in London but seems reviews widely vary about Paris car services (DH won't want "shuttle" van/stop for everybody things).

He's flying back to DFW and home, BUT is going through LHR. And as a pretty seasoned European traveler, and whose experience with CDG wasn't completely smooth, he will want to be at the airport as soon as the counters open. Or before. Last time we arrived at LHR 5 minutes before the counters "opened," there was already a dozen or more groups/people in line. CDG might be the same way. (I'm flying back the same day, but not with him; that is being arranged by a student tour group company that I traveled TO Paris with, so I don't have my specifics yet, but I know it won't be earlier than his flight!)

And in email with prospective hotel, they said taxi also.

But if anyone has had a great experience with a car service, I'd still like to know.

Since this is about getting TO the airport from a hotel I rather doubt you are going to have trouble "finding" a taxi. Order one in advance if necessary but reliability IN PARIS is not going to be an issue.

Not in answer to OP question...
Well, while I understand the debate about whether or not to order a taxi the night before etc, I'm sorry but I have NEVER been at CDG when there was not a line of taxis into the city.

Now back to answering the OP question:
We usually order a taxi the night before through the hotel's desk EXCEPT when we are staying smack dab next to a busy taxi rank with a "call" button.

For example, we stayed near the Ecole Militaire taxi rank three stays in a row and were always able to get one within minutes and therefore did not have to pay the extra fee taxis charge getting TO the hotel.

And texasbookworm, your husband is to be commended for intending to get to CDG early. We have had so many things go wrong at CDG, including a bomb threat that closed all the check-in counters for an hour, that we leave for CDG no later than four hours before our flight home.

I used G7 last week. Called the night before for a 5 am pickup. We got down stairs at 4:55. He was already there, put the bags in truck and we got in. The metere was already at 8.90€. When I asked why, he said it was because I made a reservation. I saw on their website, if you call to book a cab for pick up during rush hour (7-9 am and 5-7 pm) there was 5€ charge for reservation. Otherwise ,not.

The trip took close to 45 minutes, with what seemed to be fairly light Tuesday morning traffic. Estimate of the cost on their website was 41€ to 60€.cour fare with 2€ for to suitcases, was 63€ and change. (We came from I'le d' St Louis .) gave him 70€ and called it a day. Way more expensive that our usual RER ride but at that hour, it was a luxury.

This is an OLD thread, but of course, always in demand. The counters will not be open at 5AM--at least in our experience.
Taxi all the way. Ordered the night before.

It is an oldie but goodie. DebitNM, I had the same experience, a fee higher than I expected when traffic wasn't terrible (around the same as yours) from a taxi ordered by the hotel the night before. I think it isn't just a taxi fee for ordering, but also, of course, taxi fares are much higher at certain times of day. I believe they are higher before 7 am, and on Sundays. That adds up. OF course if you are in a hotel and plan to take a taxi, you can't trust it to waiting until you need to leave. Because Paris does have a slight shortage of taxis, from what I've heard, and they can get scarce at certain times of day.

I know sometimes people on Fodors advise that a taxi will only cost 45-50 euro and I have never had a fare that low to/from the airport for probably a decade.

NOt at the airport, though, as someone above said, I have never once had a problem with no taxis at the airport (either one). There may be a slight wait but just because there are couple people in line ahead of you.

Pre-book your taxi to avoid last-minute stress.
You can book a taxi between 14 days and 1 hour in advance.

Free all day on weekends and public holidays, this book is invoiced
at €5 from 7.00 to 10.00am
and 5.00 to 9.00 pm, Monday to Friday*

This amount must be paid directly to the TAXIS G7 Call Centre
by credit card at the time of booking.*

So, according to this, I should NOT have paid the extra 5 Euros. But as it was such a convenience, oh well, c'est la vie!

The 5€ fee has nothing to do with when you call; it applies only to pickup time. If you ask for a 07h00 pickup, there is a 5€ fee. If you ask for a 06h59 pickup or a 10h01 pickup, there is no fee.

Taxi meters begin when the driver receives a pickup call. The dispatcher will attempt to send the closest available taxi near you, the dispatcher tries to match up available taxis with pickup requests. Taxi repositioning is at the customer´s expense and results in what is called an approach fee, typically around 10€ to 15€ which will be on the meter at pickup but the approach fee also includes the 6€ minimum taxi charge.

If any customer thinks that the approach fee is excessive, he is free to refuse the pickup and to call a second taxi. Picking up a taxi at a taxi stand eliminates the approach fee.

Rain has a very negative effect on traffic in and around Paris. If it is raining, taxis are much more difficult to obtain and congestion can result in unexpectedly high meter charges. Anyone traveling to CDG during a rainy period should add 30 minutes to the typical 1 hour en route estimate to reach CDG from Paris.
