Best base town in Cotswolds
Hello,
My SO & I are visiting the Cotswolds for 4 days in June. We will rent a car in London and drive over there. We are looking for base - a beautiful not overly touristy/crowded town with pubs/restaurants/sights that we can walk to. We both enjoy nature & photography.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Many thanks!

We enjoyed very much Chipping Campden - a charming town with several pubs and restaurants and a beautiful church. Not as touristy as other (smaller) villages, with a life of its own.
We stayed at the Lygon Arms which was very beautiful.

As I just posted on another thread . . . there re MANY great towns/villages including Chipping Campden, Broadway, Burford, Stow-on-the-Wold, Evesham and lots of others. Or for the more southerly/western bits places like Stroud/Tetbury.
Actually -- for the Cotswolds I generally look for a knock out property and don't care too awful much where it is since just about anyplace in the Cotswolds is easily drive-able from any other part.
What is your budget?

All of the above are fine locations . . . My very favorite town would be Burford. One of the VERY best Wool churches, good walks, lots of places to eat/stay/drink/shop.
But I've stayed in every corner of the Cotswolds and you really can't go 'wrong' anywhere.

Having stayed in a number of Cotswold towns & villages, I have several favorites:
Winchcombe, walking distance to Sudeley Castle http://www.sudeleycastle.co.uk and Hailes Abbey http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/hailes-abbey among others. http://www.winchcombewelcomeswalkers.com
In a few weeks I'll be staying again outside another favorite, Chipping Campden, walking distance to all sorts of places - world-class gardens & historic houses, among others. https://www.chippingcampdenonline.org/attractions/
Painswick is another I like a lot, very pretty, big enough but not too big.
