Best area to stay and hotels in Paris
 

Going to Paris in March for 3 days. Which is the best area to stay by way of walking neighborhoods and easiest access to most sites. I'm looking at the Latin Quarter. Also any recommendations for affordable/reputable hotels? Price range-$100-$125.

It looks as though you have posted the same question twice; no need to do that. People will respond, if they have info for you--or not, regardless of how many times you post the same message.

I like the Hotel du Lys for a "budget" hotel in the 6th; it is w/in 2 minutes walk to both St. Michel and Odeon metro stations, and it is well located for exploring both the right and left banks. A double runs 115 euro, but that price includes a continental breakfast.

We always stay at the Hotel Bonaparte, 61 Rue Bonaparte in the 6th. From 124E dbl w/bkfst. It is located near 3 metro stops. Has AC and an elevator.

My wife and I have stayed at Hotel Pas de Calais in the 6th.several times. Very good location- steps from Blvd Sainte Germaine (a great walking and people watching area)and near Metro. Check it out at <[email protected]>
We have also stayed at a small hotle- Le Sainte Beauve.

Have you noticed less availability at the Hotel Bonaparte after recommending them here at Fodors -- is it harder for you to get a room?

Hotel St. Andre des Arts in the 6th may fit the bill. It has a lot of "character" ... it was built in the 15th century so yeah...it has character flaws. But I found it clean, the bathroom was huge and the area excellent. If it has a star at all its a 1* - no tv, no elevator and no air conditioning BUT the coffee was hot and plentiful and free the next morning.

Check priceline.com and American express travel. They have promotions for 70 percent off on upscale and moderately priced hotels, which will surely fit within your budget. (I'm going to Paris in March too!)

Hotel Monge is a nice one in the Latin Quarter and should be in your price range.
