best architecture in Europe?
 

I am a lover of architecture and old buildings. SO far, my favorite is the grand place area in Brussels. Loved seeing the detail of the houses. Would like to hear your favorite.

The Duomo in Florence.It is fabulous...

Always Paris and also the Alsace region.

What period of architecture? The Roman ruins in Provence (Orange, Arles, N&icirc;mes, Pont du Gard, Glanum, etc.) are incredible.And then there are similar ruins in Italy, Greece, and North Africa.<BR><BR>Romanesque - the Dordogne is full of stunning Romanesque churches and other structures. So are many other regions of France and other European countries.<BR><BR>Medieval - well, it would be hard to single out a place in Europe with great medieval architecture, as there are a gazillion, but Sarlat would certainly come to mind as it was restored to almost perfection (including being lit by gas lamps at night) by Minister of Culture Andr&eacute; Malraux early in the century. <BR><BR>18th-century - Bordeaux is a classic example of a city built up almost all at once, with a harmonious architecture that reflects its heritage as a premier industrial center of the wine trade during the 18th century. Loads of gorgeous buildings with wrought iron balconies, etc. Beautiful.<BR><BR>Then there are the great Art Deco sights and more modern ones. Europe is so overbrimming with architectural highlights that you really need to focus on a particular style and period for anyone to provide a sensible answer to your question.

The Pantheon in Rome is pretty awesome.

The houses from the 17th century in the<BR>'gouden bocht' in Amsterdam. <BR>Did i mention I'm dutch? Probably I'm a bit biased

The Sagrada Familia cathedral and other architecture by Gaudi and contemporaries in Barcelona.
