Best alternative hotel to La Calcina (Venice)

I always look carefully at message boards before a trip, and I was amazed at the amount of positive feedback I found about La Calcina in Venice.

Unfortunately, it is booked for our dates (April 1-3). Does anybody have a good alternative that would be comparable?

While searching for a Venice hotel for our upcoming vacation, we also tried La Calcina--booked. Tried Accademia--booked. Thanks to this board, we found out about a new hotel called Casa Rezzonico and ended up booking there. Since it's new it doesn't have the volume of good reports as La Calcina, but the reports I have seen have been absolutely glowing. I got a large double room with private bath, view of San Barnaba canal, for $140/night, including breakfast on their garden patio. Same neighborhood as La Calcina, right next to a vaparetto stop. Do a search here if you like, and here's their website:

We enjoyed the Pausania few years ago nr San Barnabas vaporetto Ca'Rezzonico, on the canal w/the floating vegetable market.

I am currently waiting for a confirmation for our booking at Ca Rezzonico, we really wanted Galleria but a quadruple was unavailable. I distinctly remember reading that the Garden view was much better than the canal view at CaRezzonico. Is this correct?? Do you suggest we go quadruple or 2 double rooms instead?

I have stayed at the Hotel Galleria and the Casa Rezzonico. Both are great! Casa Rezzonico is more spacious and has new bathrooms with blow dryers. I recommend the garden view!

I've been there last year.
Enjoy

I see the OP has already been and gone, but for future reference, the Hotel Pausania is on the same Fondamenta as Casa Rezzonico and is very pleasant, with a garden or canal view, and a wonderful old well head and stone stairs at the entry. The single room I stayed in a couple of years ago was quite small, but the other rooms I peeked at looked nice. I noticed more Europeans than English speakers. The breakfast "buffet" wasn't great, so I usually had a caffe latte at the cafe in the square instead.
