best airport to fly out of Paris back to Toronto
I have another question for you savvy travellers. We are planning a trip to Paris but just in the beginning stages as it is for next August. Any thoughts on the best airport to take back to Canada, my searching leads to a few choices of airports.

I'd make the decision using your own priorities such as airline choice (FF miles awarded among other considerations), price, schedule and stops (if any) rather than airport. If you use the airport lounges that, too, would be a consideration.

I don't quite understand your question - if you're in Paris you'll leave via Charles de Gaulle (CDG) the international airport. There's an airport 85km north of Paris that is used by some budget airlines but I don't think any of them fly to Toronto. Or are you going to be traveling elsewhere in France?

There can't be that many, Paris only has 2. I suppose if you count Beauvais and are going to England or something on Ryanair, that would be 3, but I can't imagine that as the start of an international trip.
YOu could land in ORY if you were flying BA as they have flights to ORY from London and from JFK, actually. I'd choose ORY if I really had a choice and nothing else made a difference. Actually, Corsair flies nonstop from Montreal to ORY.

Orly is smaller, easier to get around than deGaulle, and much closer to SW Paris, 6th-7th arr for example, if that's where you're staying.
There are decent public transport options. Taxis from south of the river to Orly run about 35€, depending on traffic, and take about 30-40 minutes.

If you book Air Transat out of Toronto, they are serviced at Charles de Gaulle airport but out of Terminal 3. AT offers 12 Club Class seats in addition to their economy.
Both Air France and Air Canada fly into Terminal 2.

Nonstop - only CDG.
One-stop: ORY (Orly) via Lisbon - or ORY for many two-stoppers

Last I looked some Corsair flights from Montreal land at Orly. Don't know about the return leg but if available I'd consider it. Orly is smaller and cheaper to reach by taxi... but oddly enough more expensive by RER.
Bottom line... which airport hardly matters. I'd use price as a guideline.

Ok I get it now, I was confused there, call it xmas brain or too much pudding. Anyway we are considering Icelandic Air but only because I would love to fly into Iceland and see it for a bit. Its only 2 hours longer flight than AirTransat direct and a few dollars more.

I've flown AT economy class several times and while it's not luxury it's no worse than other airlines. We eat at the airport, skip the meal put on headphones and sleep as much as possible. The bottom line for me is we save 800 bucks each way and can put up with a little inconvenience for 6 or 7 hours.
