Best Airline to London from DC?

My wife and I are traveling to London from Washington, DC in September. Does anyone have suggestions/recommendation on an airline?

"Best Airline to London from DC? "

Best for what? It's not that long a flight - I'd personally use the one that has the best fare . . . . .

I don't think it makes much difference, either, I'd go by fare and departure time. Personally, I do prefer Virgin to BA, if both are fairly equal in my decision process.

Maxjet.

Streets ahead of the competition.

MaxJet, Dulles to Stansted.

September 3, 10, and 17 are all showing $649.

Definitely MaxJet--no contest--superior service and food.

Certainly not disagreeing with any of the above but since it may be a significant price difference you might just want to see what a few others have thought about their MaxJet experiences:

Best value is definitely MaxJet, an all business class airline. "Best" airline experience is probably British Airlines First... Business class, best experience is either Virgin or BA with completely lie-flat sleeper seats.

And for those who're not familiar with Maxjet, it's a all-business class airline that offers discount business class travel across the Atlantic.

The seats are older generation business class, so no flat bed like VS or BA. But of course, the cost is significantly cheaper.

I don't understand what flanneruk means by "streets ahead of the competition". Who's the competition? I don't think L'Avion or Silverjet flies London - DC; and neither does Eos, which is all first class. And I'm not sure if they offer better service than BA, VS or UA on this route. Again, the advantage is cost.

Same thing with roamer's response. "Superior service and food"? To what?

And just wanto to make it clear that the price Robespierre quote is one-way. For those originating in the UK, it's 389GBP all-in, which is $782 at today's rate.

>>British Airlines<< No such animal. Assume you mean British Airways . . . .

Thanks for all the feedback. Clearly the word "best" elicits an interesting reaction from some. Perhaps I should have clarified that I meant best in terms of customer service/treatment. Irrespective of the length of flight, I like a good experience when flying, and that includes treatment from check-in to baggage claim.
