best after work bars in paris
 

will be in paris in august on business.i am single and am curious as to what the best after work bars this site would recommend.thanks

From my experience Parisians (and the French in general) don't really go in for after work drinks as we know them.

They'll be more likely to go home first, eat and then go out afterwards particularly as the typical working day won't finish before around 7pm. That's not to say there won't be some people out for a drink after work, but don't expect to find a bar that's jumping around 6pm on a weekday.

Things don't usually get going until 9pm at the earliest and at the weekends you can expect to be meeting people from about 10pm to start your night out.

Where will you be based? I might know a couple of bars in the vicinity...

Ah, probably my least favourite arrondissement in Paris, which I avoid if at all possible. Can't help at all there I'm afraid, but I'm sure there'll be many others here that can.

At Saint Germain des Près, 6th, the Café Flore and Les Deux Magots are two long standing places for a beverage and people watching, pretty much any time of the day or evening.

I've done a social thing at the Great Canadian Pub, which is along Seine, Left Bank just up (west) from Place St Michel.
