Hi Nancy!<BR>I bought the BO Regional Pass last year and the year before. If I recall correctly, it's sold for four and seven day periods and can be purchased at any of the local (Berner Oberland) RR stations. Beyond the BOB, there are reductions, though I doubt that you will be able to buy the pass in those areas. It's most useful to those who will be staying within 30 minutes or so of Interlaken since it covers almost every form of transportation in the region. Good luck!

Hi. I bought the 7 day version of the Berner Oberland Pass in 2000. We took full advantage of it and rode everything we could find on the free days. I figured that if I took the four most expensive rides in the area, I had reached the break even point. After that, everything was gravy.<BR>You can read all about it at this place:<BR>http://www.regiopass-berneroberland.ch/<BR><BR>There is a diagram of the coverage area.<BR>It does not quite reach to Luzern, but you can a partial discount as far as you go.<BR><BR>One aspect of the pass I think you should note is this: the final section of the Schilthorn trip is never free, nor is the section of the Jungfraujoch trip from Kleine Scheidegg to the top ever free. The best you can do on those trips is receive 50% off of the list price.<BR>If you are going to the Jungfraujoch, you can at least ride as far as Kleine Scheidegg for free and pay half of the price to go the rest of the way up.<BR><BR>In this regard, it is a real toss up as to whether or not the Berner Oberland Pass is better than the Swiss Card, which yields a free trip to and from your entry point to a destination of your choosing plus 50% off of most tickets, even on the private train and cable lines in the mountains.<BR>It all depends on what you want to do.<BR>But check it out. You can make your own decision.<BR><BR>One word of caution. I would not buy the pass before I got there. If you have it before you arrive, and the mountains are socked in, then what? You have a pass, but nothing much to see. Essentially it is a 3 day pass because those are the free days and if you hustle a little you can see it all in 3 days. Does this B.O. regional pass cover the train from Interlaken West to Berne?? How about the lake region/villages in this area?<BR>Also, the pass covers from your port of entry but what if you have a friend who is picking you up at zurich airport and you will be spending a couple of days with her then going around the country....can you originate from a location other than a border town or airport? Mary
