Berner Oberland and Bellagio--Best time to go?
Hello Travelers,
I'm starting to think about my plans for next year and I think I'd like to visit the Berner Oberland area of Switzerland and then into the Italian lakes region. With the two climates being vastly different, when would you recommend the best time to visit? We are flexible. I am interested in hiking and sight seeing in Switzerland with a home base probably in Lauterbrunnen and then we'll drive down to Bellagio. I'd like to avoid the crowds of high summer. My thoughts were the end of May into early June? Thank you for your help. |
Mid June would be perfect for the Bernese Oberland. Mid September is also ideal. End of May is a bit too early. Can't you switch and go to Bellagio first?
|
I would do early June for both - the lakes don;t get too hot - and you're still avoiding the croweds of midsummer.
|
I agree---first half of June or mid-Sep.

We did this trip flying in and out of Malpensa. The tempseratures weren't much different, with the exception of the snowy top of the Jungfrau where we used layers.

We're staying in Lauterbrunnen May 16-22 so I'll let you know how the weather is. We too are going to two different climate areas of Europe (Barcelona May 8-16 and then Switzerland the next week) mostly because we found insanely cheap tickets from the US. Hoping it's not too cold in Lauterbrunnen since we'll have two small kiddos with us!

Thanks GillsinEurope--that would be helpful.
Mid-June sounds like the best option--maybe I'll go to Bellagio first and hit the Jungfrau after. |
