Berlin Train Station for access to sightseeing

My husband and I are arriving in Berlin from Brussels on an overnight train and spending the day in Berlin and then leaving on a night train at 10:00 p.m for Munich. Which would be the best train station in Berlin for leaving our luggage and best access/closest to the must see Berlin tourist sites which on this visit is all we willhave time for.

Well of course you leave it at the new Central Station because you're night train also leave from there. And there is baggage storage there - was there a few weeks back.

And this station is very close to the Reichstag Building, Brandenburg Gate area and a short walk to Museum Island - S-Bahn trains go from the new Central Station to Museum Island area as well as to many parts of Berlin.

Thanks very much PalenQ. You have been a wealth of information which I appreciate very much.

Billruth, i suggest you check the train schedules.

At least one night train from Brussels actually arrives at the Berlin Zoo station and at least one night train departs from there as well.

Coach K: surprising info....sure you are right. But the Munich night train almost has to be from Central Station because it will take the new underground line via SudKreuz en route to Munich

Well, Pal..now that you are on speaking terms with me again please double check for me on the Bahn site.

I found at least one night train to Munich which leaves from Zoo. I'm not saying it doesn't start out at the new station.

Take a look and see what you think. I'd hate to think i steered the OP in the wrong direction.

Dukey: my terrible mistake especially since i took that night train to Munich last month and i was totally confused here - a senior moment even though i'm not quite a senior.

Yes all or most night trains do stop at Spandau, Zoo, Central station, and Ostbahnhof - where many originate or terminate.

My confusion in part was caused because ICEs, etc. to Dresden use the new Sud Kreuz route...but not night trains which i should have known because i just took one!

You are right, i am wrong. That said Central Station is still the place for the OP to deposit luggage for the day. Why? even if Zoo were better located for sights, which it is not, to board a night train at Zoo can be a real zoo - small crowded platforms and train stops only a few minutes. More leisurely to board at Central Station.

By the way thanks for telling me i wasn't talking to you - it's news to me - why should i not be talking to you - i must have missed something.

Go Heels!
