Berlin to Venice

I would some advice or help how to go from Berlin to Venice.

Details on trains can be found at bahn.de. But it will take at least 13 hours and one change to get there. Much better to fly - check skyscanner for flight options and buy tickets far in advance for best prices.

Since you don;t give dates - or parameters (price versus convenience, etc) hard to give more specifics.

Presuming you mean to do this directly and aren't asking about the best route and where else to stop along the way.......you can take the train; at least 13:49 hours if taken during the day time, or about 15:30 hours if you take it overnight. The train leaves Berlin at 16:40 arrives in Munich at 22:41 where you change trains and depart Munich 23:36 and arrive in Venice at 08:24.

Or, you fly.

You didn't mention how you wished to travel but I would look at flying Air Berlin or Easy Jet, inexpensive and fast.

Of course, we fly to Venice from Germany. Do not forget to check Germanwings.

It's worth taking the train just for the ride.

1. Book an evening train Berlin-Munich ICE train from €29 at www.bahn.de/en - you can leave central Berlin as late as 16:40.

2. Stay overnight in Munich - plenty of good and cheap hotels near the station - try www.booking.com - which is only 15 min walk from the Dom and Marienplatz if you wanted a beer.

3. Take the train next day from Munich to Venice through the lovely Brenner Pass with lunch in the elegant restaurant car. A real treat! Book from €39 also at www.bahn.de/en and print your own ticket.

There's a direct train from Munich 11:38 arriving 18:10, or take the 09:38, change Verona and arrive Venice Santa Lucia at 16:40.

And it's a wonderful way to arrive in Venice, rumbling across the causeway over the lagoon into Venice Santa Lucia station, and walking out to see gondolas and vaporettos on the Grand Canal right in front of you!

This is actually quite a last min decision to extend my stay. I will b in Dahlewitz before and 26 Sep onwards free for 5 days and wanted to go over to Venice after that for 5 days.

There are also night trains between Berlin and Munich I believe and certainly one between Munich and Vienna - of course missing the relative smidgeon of gorgeous mountain scenery around the Brennero pass but so-so scenery - oh nice enough in northern Italy and blah blah scenery from Verona to Venice IMO nothing to suffer for for 13 hours on train IME. But night trains save you money on a hotel and you can get nice discounts if booking way in advance. As there are no night trains between Berlin and Venice, the rail option will be quite costly and does not save any money but wastes a lot of time for someone who wants to see Venice and not spend time in Munich.
I would not know of any local in either Berlin or Venice who would do this journey by any other means than flying.
