Berlin to Barcelona?

Berlin and Barcelona are two gaping holes on my travel resume. I am considering knocking them out in one trip. I have a limited amount of time -- 8 days total. Without further adieu, I have the following questions:

1. Is this trip a good idea or should I stick to one of the two cities and hit the other destination on a future vacation?

2. Is it easy to fly from Berlin to Barcelona? If so, which airline(s) do you recommend?

3. If you were a first time visitor to Berlin and Barcelona, how would you divide up 8 days between the cities?

4. I am thinking about a late October/ early November visit. Is this a good time of year to visit these cities?

Any and all input is welcome.

Many thanks in advance.

Air Berlin and easyJet offer flights from Berlin to Barcelona.

Sounds great to me -- although I love Berlin and I can't stand Barcelona! But I think it's a great way to discover them both, and find out which one fascinates you more for a longer stay.

If it were me, I would NOT be in Berlin in October because I wouldn't want to have anything to do with Oktoberfest in any way, shape or form. You might be different. So I'd do Barcelona first.

Your challenge is going to be packing. I recommend silk longjohns from Wintersilks, and otherwise pack layers.

Have a great time!

Have been to both several times. Love them both. Yes, you COULD do them both and I would devote four full days to each if I had to splt them.

I'm not sure Oktoberfest is as much a Berlin thing as it is a Munich thing but I've never been to Berlin in October. And besides, Oktoberfest usually STARTS in late September and ends in early October.

I just entered 29 October. The cheapest flight on this date is with EasyJet at 30.48 Euros. Another option is Air Berlin at 64.00 Euros. (Both are nonstop flights.)

Book ASAP, fares will increase quickly.

4/4 is a good rule.

October is a good month for both destinations, in November it gets worse, but early November is still o.k.. Travel as early as possible. Do Berlin first, then BCN.

There is NO Oktoberfest in Berlin. Oktoberfest is in München and nowhere else (besides a few small towns in Texas). Period.

Great. Then I'd do Berlin first, and look forward to all that seafood in Barcelona.

When you like seafood, I strongly recommend Commerc24 in BCN.

In Berlin, try the Zander (pike-perch) and crayfish from the river Havel. The restaurant Mark Brandenburg in the Hilton Hotel on the Gendarmenmarkt would be a good adress. If you want to go more upscale, eat at Fischers Fritz, also on Gendarmenmarkt (2 Michelin stars, but lunch is affordable).
