Berlin Restaurants

We will be in Berlin staying at Berlin Hilton for 2 nights following river cruise. Would appreciate suggestions for restaurants with good food, traditional atmosphere and prices that are reasonable. Party of 6 adults, all in our early to mid 70s, who enjoy good wine and beer.

Inside the Hilton, the restaurant "Mark Brandenburg" offers refined regional cuisine at reasonable prices. I would recommend it.

A comparable, more traditional venue is the Schinkel-Klause in the Opernpalais Unter den Linden (5 min walk from the Hilton).

For a more traditional (and cheaper) dining experience, walk up Friedrichstraße a few hundred yards northwards to the "Nolle" in one of the archs of the S-Bahn bridge.

For a very traditional and very cheap experience, eat a Currywurst or Boulette in the eatery directly under the bridge or a Turkish Döner Kebab in the tiny snack bar on the other side of the street.

I have stopped recommending Lutter und Wegner. They have become too touristy and quality has deteriorated.

In any case, have lunch at Fischers Fritz in the Regent Hotel across the Gendarmenmarkt. They offer a 3-course-menu (in fact, you get 5 courses) at 39 Euros and you will enjoy the best cuisine in town (2 Michelin stars). Select an inexpensive German riesling from the wine list. Reservation is mandatory.

Opposite the Hilton, restaurant Aigner in the Sofitel offers nice Austrian/German style cuisine in pleasant atmosphere.

I don't remember the food being an incredible standout, but there's a restaurant at the top of the Fernsehturm (TV Tower). It provided a nice aerial view of the city, so it might be worth going up there for the view, if even just for a drink.

Here is the website, although it's in German: http://www.tv-turm.de/de/restaurant.php

If in the Kreuzberg area, this would definitely qualify as a traditional restaurant:
