A drive for one night in Krakow is a waste of time.

Since you seem to be interested mainly in the cities, why not simply take the train: Berlin, Dresden, Prague, Vienna, Budapest? It sounds like a two week trip, so 5 cities will be more than enough; you need to take into account the travel time between the cities.

It really depends on what YOU want to see and experience, but FWIW:
- I wanted MUCH more time than you are giving any of these glorious destinations.
- Trains are easy and convenient.
- Krakow is delightful; it is NOT a reasonable "side trip" from Vienna or Budapest or anywhere else you mention, and it easily deserves about 5 nights. Please consult google maps, or look at rome2rio.com.
- consult booking.com for accommodations.

Have you consulted a good guide book? Please do -- in comparison to the cost of your trip, the cost of a guidebook will be nominal, and you will have a wealth of incredibly helpful information at your fingertips.

Feel free to come back to us once you've done a bit of basic research.

Good luck!

If you mean a private car and driver it is both megabucks and totally unnecessary, And indeed less comfy!

Just take the train, as we Europeans do, between Berlin and Prague, city centre to city centre from €19.90 in 2nd class or €39.90 in 1st class at either German Railways www.bahn.de/en or Czech Railways www.cd.cz (same trains, jointly run, just buy from whichever site has the cheaper prices for your chosen departure).

The trains have a restaurant car (sit face to face across a white tablecloth being served proper food on proper china with a glass or two of wine...) there's great scenery south of Dresden along the Elbe River valley.

To book a few hours stopover in Dresden, use www.bahn.de/en to book Berlin Hbf to Prague Hlavni but click Add intermediate stops and enter Dresden plus a desired stopover time up to 48h. There are left luggage lockers at the station as at most large European stations.

Prague to Vienna or Budapest (or vice versa) from €19 in 2nd class or €29 in 1st class at www.cd.cz

Vienna to Budapest from €19 in 2nd class or €29 in 1st class at www.oebb.at Austrian Railways

In all cases you simply print your own ticket.
