Hello All,

I am looking for the trains / metro / bus that from the Platz area to the Berlin Hbf.

Just want to know more the station.

Do Metro, Re-train and S-bahn use the same station?

Are the Metro. Re-train and S-bahn are connected together or they are separated in different part ?

How long will it take if go the Berlin Hbf on foot? Is it possible ?

Just want to know more.

Thanks for your reply.

By rail, you would take any northbound RE train for one stop from Potsdamer Platz station to Hauptbahnhof.
You will need to use one of the major entrances (they look like big cubes) at the major intersection of Potsdamer Platz, labelled "Bahnhof Potsdamer Platz" and show the "DB" logo.
The entrances look like this:

S-Bahn and U-Bahn (metro) do NOT go to Hauptbahnhof from Potsdamer Platz. Some entrances labelled with the S or U logo do connect to the RE trains platforms, others don't.
So stick to the aforementioned main entrance "cubes" to access the RE trains platforms.

As RE trains don't run that frequent (usually just 1-2 per hour per line), it can be much easier to take the BUS.
In the NE corner of Potsdamer Platz intersection you will find the bus stop "Potsdamer Platz / Voßstr.". Right in front of the Canadian embassy.

This stop is served by city buses M41 and M85 which both go to and terminate at Hauptbahnhof. During regular weekday hours M buses run at least every 10 minutes.
M85 is a bit slower than M41 (some 5-10 mins or so slower) and takes you on a scenic tour along Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag and Chancellory to Hauptbahnhof.
M41 takes a faster route through the Tiergarten tunnel.

This map shows the surroundings of Potsdamer Platz.

Depending from where you will start your trip, some bus stops which are only served by either M41 or M85 may be more convinient for you to reach.

If you have no luggage and look for a nice walk, you can walk to Hauptbahnhof. Just walk straight north through the Tiergarten, Berlin's Central Park.
But as the paths and avenues in the park do not form a checkboard pattern, it is possible to get a bit lost.
Which I would not risk if I had a train to catch.

And, finally, a taxi will cost you less than €10.

Because I will travel in Germany by using Eurail pass, so I will prefer Re-train and S-bahn.

As my family will stay in the hotel near the Potsdamer Platz, we will go to the Berlin Hbf . Just want to know the easy and convenient way to Berlin Hbf.

Yes it can't be more than a mile - and a nice walk - going by the Holocaust Memorial next to the Brandenbrug Gate, the new American Embassy and the Reichstag.

Because I will travel in Germany by using Eurail pass, so I will prefer Re-train and S-bahn.>

You would only want to do that if you have a consecutive-day pass or are using a flexible travel day that day, of course. But not all S-Bahns in Berlin are valid with the pass - only those that link mainline train stations are so I guess any S-bahn going to the Hauptbahnhof was be OK.

Do Metro, Re-train and S-bahn use the same station?>

Sometimes but the U-Bahn Iunderground metro) usually is underground and S-Bahns tend to be elevated or at ground level. One S-Bahn line slices thru the heart of Rome on pillars and provides a great way of getting around the say the Reichstag, Museum Island, Brandenberg Gate, etc.

Are the Metro. Re-train and S-bahn are connected together or they are separated in different part ?>

though they come together they are separate entities - but the Regional trains often use S-Bahn tracks (S-Bahns being run by the German Railways I think)

What kind of railpass are you considering - there are so so many options involving Germany - the German Pass, 2-country passes and with the German Pass now an add-on that takes you to Italy, Austria, Prague, etc.

For lots of great stuff on German and European trains I always spotlight these IMO fine sources: www.budgeteuropetravel.com; www.seat61.com and www.ricksteves.com.
