Berlin Olympia Stadion

I am going to the IAAF track meet in August that will be held at Berlin Olympia Stadion. Has anyone visited this stadium since it was renovated and reopened 5 years ago? I am wondering about the comfort level of the seating and whether to bring foam 'chairs' from the USA when we go. We'll be traveling to / from the stadium via U-Bahn, but any other useful tips would be appreciated. Kathleen

Sorry, can't tell you a bit about the seats.
But during the major events it is usually more comfortable to take the S-Bahn to Olympiastadion. The walk is shorter, but more important, the S-Bahn trains can handle more people so they won't get as packed as the subway/U-Bahn.

Thanks for that tip. We're coming from the Zoo stop so either line will work fine for us. BTW, we get free public transit with our IAAF tix during the event - sweet!

I was in the OS in April for a Hertha Berlin football match. The seats are as comfortable, or more comfortable, than anything I have sat on in any other stadium. Molded plastic flip seat, fairly wide and decent leg room - the usual.

agree about the seats. not to worry. - And as fans of a marginal, but admittedly (hard as that is) quite original suburbian (ha!) footbal club - the name of which just cannot be expected to be pronounced by me - pointedly phrased it: Seats are for a$$es anyway.
