Berlin, germany
Does anybody know of any program to meet local people, couples? We are a couple in our 60's visiting Berlin for the second time and would to meet locals. We love art, architecture , history and travel.
|
Do you speak German? I don't know of anything like this, but I speak fluent German and if I speak to people in art galleries and museums, once they have got over the shock of an Anglophone able to communicate with them in their own language, rather than automatically assuming that everyone speaks English, they are always very friendly and willing to chat, which has sometimes led to going for a coffee together and/or making plans to meet up at a later date.
|
Thank you for your response. We do not speak German.
|
Beer halls and beer gardens are also excellent place to converse with locals many of whom know some English.
|
There are actually folks in Germany who welcome the opportunity to exercise their conversational English skills.

this may not be quite what you meant but it could be a start:
http://www.berlin-greeter.org/en/meet-the-greeters>> also if you belong to Rotary or similar you might find a branch in Berlin. |
We contacted Berlin greeters. Awaiting response. Thank you so much
|
hope it works out, mark.
do let us know how you get on. I can remember some posts from people who used them in Paris and they were very impressed. |
We just finished with our Berlin Greeters. We had a wonderful 3 hour walk here in Berlin. He met us at our hotel and we told him in advance what we like( art, architecture , history, etc. )
We loved it. Just what we wanted. On another day we did a walking tour with Serious tours. Very in depth tour . Also extremely well done. Highly recommend both. Berlin is absolutely fascinating If you love history and is changing so rapidly. |
thanks for the feedback, Mark.
definitely something that we will consider next time we are in Berlin! sounds as if you are having a very interesting time. |
