Does anyone know if Galeries Lafayette will be open this Monday (Easter Monday)? Will most of the shops in general be closed that day?

All shops are closed on Easter Monday. This also includes all shopping malls and department stores. Not their choice but the law. The only exceptions are a) shops inside train stations and airports, b) tourist souvenir shops, c) bakeries can open a few hours in the morning.

In other words, shopping is not an option on public holidays.

Thanks for the explanation. I know that many of the museums will in fact be open, so I wasn't sure how "shut down" the entire city would be on Monday.
