Berlin Beer Gardens Advise Please!!!!!
 

Me and my husband are going to berlin in July we are 30 and we are looking for a few Beer gardens to visit. We already are planning to visit Prater beer garden but we are looking for a couple of others that are worth a visit. Also it is important of they have Non alcholic beers on the menu because unfortunatly my husband is taking medicine and he is upset he would be able to enjoy the beer in Germany but at least if they have Non alcholic beer he can enjoy pairing that with the German food at the beer garden.

We will be visiting on a Monday to a Thursday so is there a best time day etc to visit prater for the overall best experience? Are there any fun beer gardens with music that should be visited?

Any beer garden suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

Nowhere near as many as in Munich, that's for sure!

There's a very pleasant beer garden out front of Clärchens Ballhaus. Here's a little video - - mostly of the interior, but you will get an idea for why it is worth a visit!

If the ideas aren't cascading in, Yelp has a pretty good footprint in Berlin, and you can search for biergarten and then sort by Highest Rated. What you probably really want in Berlin are the most picturesque places to enjoy a beer outdoors - - and that is often by a lake or river. If you zoom in on the Yelp map, and move around to where there's water, then redo the search for that spot it might lead you to some nice spots, like Schlachtensee, Wannsee, or Muggelsee.

As dfourh wrote, the "typical" beergarden is more a Bavarian thing, but you find many outdoors places in nice locations.
You can be sure NOT to find oompah music, fortunately.

The Bavarian beerhalls also have "subsidiaries" in berlin as in Shanghai or las vegas..

If you look for Bavarian atmosphere and Bavarian food, you have the beerhalls of Augustiner, Hofbräuhaus and, I think, Löwenbräu. All in Berlin-Mitte in walking distance around Gendarmenmarkt.

None of the (couple dozen) places with beergardens I know feature specifically Bavarian food and definetely have no Bavarian music. The latter would scare away most Berliners.
Most beergardens will have some dishes on the menu that you may consider Bavarian or German food. But also anything from BBQ spare ribs to Vegan Thai curry. There is no logical link between beergardens and predominantely German food (in Berlin).

You shouldn't have a problem finding a non-alcoholic beer. I would drink a NA Weizen over anything else.

There is a Weihenstephaner restaurant right at Hackescher Markt. It's not a beer garden, but with the outside seating right on the market if is certainly lively.

I think it's important for tourists to realize that looking for a "proper" Bavarian Beirgarten in Berlin is like looking for a great KC-style BBQ restaurant in Boston.

Just noticed an error in my "list":
The Golgatha beer garden is in Viktoria park in the Kreuzberg borough. Not Kreuzberg park.
The nearby Bergmann street neighborhood is also a good example where locals go out to eat.
The restaurants and eateries go almost nonstop from Mehringdamm @ Gneisenaustr. to Mehringdamm @ Bergmann str. to Bergmann str. @ Zossener str. and to Zossener str. @ Gneisenau str.
That's roughly 3/4 miles of places to eat or drink, from a chocolate shop/diner to Vegan Sudanese cuisine.

Cowboy1968 we will def put that area on our list. Thanks aagain. We were torn between two of the beer Gardens u had mentioned. We really liked the cafe am neuene see beer garden I saw online they have paddle boats you can rent and has a nice ambiance but Schleusenkrug looked cool to. Do you prefer one over the other?

Cafe am Neuen See does have an overall nicer setting.
So I'd choose that one.
