Bergen Trondheim boat worth the $?

My wife and I are planning a few weeks in Denmark and Norway. Is the two night northbound Coastal Steamer from Bergen to Trondheim worth the expense?

No one can possibly determine this for you.
Is a $35 steak "worth" it?
Are tickets to the Super Bowl worth $1000?
Is it worth it to spend over $30,000 on a car?
Is buying the premium ice cream worth paying an extra $1.00 for?
Is it worth it to spend $50 for a really good wine instead of $40 for a good one?
Get the idea? I could go on and on.

It's a great trip. To some it would be worth it. To others it won't be.

Hi Martin,

I made a trip to Norway this summer. I considered making part of the trip on the coastal steamer and decided to pass. I realized in reviewing the trip that the boat stopped for such short periods of time that I wasn't going to see as much as I wished (and the cost was a bit of a budget buster). The train for portions of my travel, bus on others, and a few shorter ferry rides worked out better for me. It all depends on what you want to see, how much time you have, and your budget. I was glad to have some fjord ferry rides on my trip as the scenery is spectacular - but I also liked having travels in-land. Unfortunatly, the inland route between Trondheim and Bergen is indirect at best (I think via. Oslo if you take the train....)

Good luck with your trip - Norway is lovely and you'll have a great trip no matter what you choose.

Martin,
Trondheim is one of the best action cities in Europe. Go for it. The bus and ferries from Bodo to Narvik are worth twice the price. Awesome fjords.

We're going to take the cruise after all, but my response to the cost of the steak, Super Bowl ticket, wine and car are all "no". Yes on the premium ice cream.

My wife and I took the Coastal Steamer all the way up and back the coast and thought it was a great trip! Have fun.
