Bergamo to Como

Anyone know what the best way to get from Bergamo (we’re flying there from Scotland) to the town of Como (by public transport)?
We don’t get in until 7pm and would like to get there on the night we arrive but it seems it could be difficult as trains don’t run particularly late in that part of Italy...
Any tips would be greatly appreciated...

The Ryanair website (click on "Destinations", then on "Milan") will link you to http://www.orioaeroporto.it where you can find http://www.orioaeroporto.it/inglese/....asp?id_sot=40

So, I think you can get to Milan fairly easily, and from there, I think that a taxi will be reasonably affordable.

Best wishes,

Rex

Bringing your post back up "to the top" since it is your first post here - - how did I know that? Click on your own name - - it's a valuable tip that Fodor fails to provide you when they send you that initial e-mail confirming your registration.

Welcome to the forum.

H gcm91. I looked into using this flight too, to visit Bellagio. I concluded it wasn't possible to get there the same day & was planning to stay the first night in Bergamo itself, which sounds like it has quite a lot to offer. See if you can find JJBhoy's Bellagio trip report (he got the same flight too but when it was in the morning.)

GCM - Trenitalia lists trains from Bergamo at:

19.30 via Milan (arr. Como S.G at 22.05)

19.55 via Carnate & Monza (arr. 22.05)

20.55 via Carnate & Monza (arr. 23.28)

.....

An alternative might be to go by train to Lecco - then on to Como by bus or taxi.

Lecco-Como buses (summer timetable):

For train details go to:

Hope this helps ...
