Whether they're passe or not, they're wonderful for keeping your ears warm when that damp cold wind whistles down your neck off the Seine...and cheap,too...I bought one when visiting Paris and having a bad cold...worked like a charm...and easy to pack..makes a good souvenir no matter how passe...and a tasty snack for your clothes moths when you get home again...

I was walking through the local market today. The first stand had berets (30 euros) and the bin nextby was for casquettes. I didn't have the price for the casquettes.
So, at least in the Catalan region of France, berets are still in fashion.

Hi Blackduff, I'm sure that les casquettes can be quite expensive in a hat shop. Near what big town were you this morning? Make us dream (and please can you give me your website address again?)

I was in Argeles-sur-Mer, which is near Perpignan. They have market days on Wednesday and Saturday and it's fun. I know a lot of the people who visit to the market. The girls buy a lot of clothes there and for me it's good things to eat.
We have an Olive Witch at the market. She sends a spell over me every market day and gets me to buy her sun dried tomatoes. There's another witch in the cheese shop too.
Like many other small coastal places, there's a village section and then there's a plage section. My apartment is on the beach.

This is an album with the photos of my apartment. I am setting up a web site but I needed to get the photos first. I have the first season already billed and today it was up to 35 degrees.

I meant to write to you about your site again. I have a lot of questions about the nuts and bolts of your site. Things like the guest book, etc.. A lot of the people here asked for the guest book and you've done this to a perfect.
Cheers

I don't want to hijack Pal's thread but when I clicked on your email address, my computer had a big bug so I don't want to do it again for now.
Feel free to ask me questions if you still have my email address (if not find you can still find it in the website)
Thanks but my guest book is nothing really special (except my guests of course)only text and pictures. They can't write directly on it, they write in a guest book album in the flat, and then I copy it on the website. If they didn't see the album, they usually write me a note when they're back home or during their trip and it is even easier to copy and paste it!
I'm looking forward to seeing your website when it is finished!

Paradise Lost - I'm surprised no one else noticed thatthe picture you posted is from Chevy Chase' movie, I think was called European Holiday. I guess it's even more fashionable to have your name embroidered on the hat so everyone knows who you are That was a good one.

You might enjoy viewing the oversized "beret" with a sort of brim in the Women's department at http://www.Amplehats.com -- interesting take or another horrible American interpretation? Gentlemen can get their porkpies and pinchfronts here as well.

The Beret has always be a tradition in the Pays Basque and País Vasco. It has little to do with being French. There are two major producers of the béret, one in Bayonne (País Basque) and one in Tolosa (Navarra). Everything else is based on the original Basque Béret, which is made out of wool and comes in basic black, blood red and occasionally blue.
