Berchtesgaden to Meersburg
 

Could anyone give me driving times between:
Berchtesgaden and Mittenwald. Mittenwald and Neuschwanstein Castle. Neuschwanstein and Meersburg. What is the most senic route from Berchtesgaden to Mittenwald to Meersburg?
If too long can we take part scenic and part fast?
Can we drive from Berchtesgaden to Mittenwald to Neuschwanstein Castle in one day and have time to stop along the way? . Should we save seeing the castle for the next morning?

Also plot your route at www.viamichelin.com using the "discovery" option.

I suggest taking the 305 South to where it meets the 178 near Schneizlreuth. Then the 178 South and West to the A12 near Wörgl. Not far beyond Innsbruck, take the 177 to Mittenwald.

The A12 is a fast, scenic road.

From Mittenwald, I suggest route 2 through Garmisch to Oberau, the 23 to Ettal and the ST 2060 to Linderhof (Ludwig's Palace is well worth a stop), and on toward Reutte. Pick up the 179 toward Fuessen and then the B17, which will take you to Neuchwanstein.

This will take about 4:30-5 hr on the road. Allow another 2 hr for Linderhof.

I would stay overnight and see N in the morning.

From N, the most scenic route is the 179 to Nassereith, the 189 to Imst, the 171 to Pians, the 316 to Rauz, the 198 to the 200 at Warth and the 190 around Bregenz to Lindau, and the 31 to Meersburg.

From Fuessen to Meersburg.

If you will be bothered, as my wife is, I suggest getting onto the A12 at Imst and following it to where it becomes the A16 to Bregenz. There are a number of tunnels, and the scenery isn't as good, but you won't have to worry about heights and winding roads.

We were able to go through the Fernpass on the 179 without my wife being upset.

We rode mostly on the A12 and it was wonderfully scenic until we got past Innsbruck where it was just a series of annoying tunnels. If you go this route, it is faster but you would have time to stop at some of the towns along the wall. Hall in Tirol is one of my favorite Austrian towns. Its picturesque and its location is beautiful. There are some nice cafe and restaurant options for lunch.
