Berchtesgaden lodging
Any recommendation for B & B preferably under 90 Euro. If you have any other recommendaion in the area that is fine too.
thanks, |
We stayed here and really enjoyed it. Within walking distance of the bus station and the tour to Eagles Nest.

Did you want to stay right in the town of B'gaden or are the outskirts OK? Will you have a car?

You might take a look at
www.berchtesgadener-land.de website, on the right, click on Berchtesgadener Land Tourismus and there you can change the language to English if you need. Once you enter your dates of stay it will pull up many available options for not only Berchtesgaden but the surrounding areas where it might be less expensive. You should be able to find something within your price range easily. Also, if you have a car and don't have to stay in town, Bad Reichenhall is an option as there are lots of zimmer freis. |
We have been to this area many times. We always have a rental car. We love Schonau au. Konigsee. If you go to the website: www.berchtesgaden.com, you can click on the Konigsee link. We stayed in 2005 at Gastehaus Rasp, which we recommend highly. The area was surrounded by mountains. The hosts, Rudi and Liesl, were wonderful. It was Christmas time, and all of the other guests were German who stayed there for Christmas every year.
From the house, we could walk across a field to a lovely restaurant. Liesl went out of her way to serve special items at breakfast, cook wonderful cake and treats, and make us feel welcome. We also stayed in 2007 for one night at Haus Seeblick, with a wonderful view of the Konigsee. There are many "Zimmer frei" in the area, and the TI prints a large catalog of accomodations and prices. Problem is, many people do not speak any English, so it may be hard to communicate. I speak German, which has helped a lot when finding rooms. The Konigsee is a must while in this area. You can read about it on the Schonau website. Wear your good walking shoes to walk to the Obersee, at the far end of the lake. Last visit, we walked to the other side of the Obersee, which requires one to be a bit of a mountain goat, but worth the trip. If you contact the Tourist Info Bureau, they can probably put you in touch with some hosts who speak English. If you have time, they can mail you the latest catalog, where you can see accomodations. Quite often there are musical events going on in Schonau, Berchtesgaden, Ramsau, etc. You need to check the literature and the TIs and posters to see what is going on. We have enjoyed wonderful concerts, both professional and very local. Also, what time of year are you going? In Dec. 2005, there was a ton of snow there. We found that we could not drive up some of the hills or driveways. Happy to answer questions if you want more info. Jean |
Much depends on whether you want to be in the town of Berchtesgaden or somewhere in the outskirts.
Last year, we stayed at the HOtel Wittelsbach right in Berchtesgaden and loved it. It's a lovely hotel with a friendly, helpful staff, an elevator (a plus for us) and a wonderful breakfast. We had a nice room with a separate seating area for 84 Euro per night. They also have parking behind the hotel. http://www.hotel-wittelsbach.com/hotel_engl.htm |
I stayed at Hotel Wittelesbach the first of this month. I had a nice, clean single room. The breakfast was very good. They actually serve bacon, scrambled eggs, and sunny side up eggs along with the usual cheese, meats, assorted breads, cereal, yogurt, and fruit. My room rate was 43€ per night. I will definitely stay there again. Free use of computer in the lobby and friendly staff.

Hi,
We stayed twice ('06 and '07) in Ramsau (a beautiful little village with fantastic mountain scenery, 10 minutes drive from Berchtesgaden) at the Pension Mayringerlehen. Very reasonable, very good buffet breakfast, nice rooms, beautiful views from the room balcony and simply the nicest people (hosts Johann and Sabine Grassl) that you'll ever meet. www.mayringerlehen.de Paul |
I also stayed at Hotel Wittelsbach. Outstanding breakfast, free parking in back of hotel, staff speaks english and is VERY helpfull with advice and directions.
Hotel is downtown overlooking mountains, extremely clean and priced right. Would not hesitate to stay there again |
