BTilke.....you can take (at least we did a few years ago) the boat across to Menaggio in just a few minutes.We had come from Milan to Como, and on to Bellagio and were going on to rent a car in Lugano, Switz and drive through Switzerland. We stayed a night in Menaggio and took the BUS from there to Lugano....nice, lovely trip....HOWEVER the bus just has a drop off in a residential/park area with NO taxis around, no phones, no bus to the city center. We finally found a lady standing by a kiosk in the park who spoke fluent English, bought a phone card, called our Hotel and they sent a car/driver. We usually drive a car everyplace but had chosen not to drive one in Italy,,,,but we knew Switz would be easy. Lugano is a beautiful city, but we were just there one night.
