Belvedere Hotel Bellagio - Yes

After reading so many positive comments about this hotel on fodors.com, we have decided to make a reservation in early September as part of a long three continent itinerary. We are interested in opinions as to whether we should stay 2 or 3 nights and if there is a particular room type or room number that we should request. We like walking, hiking, food, wine, will take ferry rides between towns etc. Any advice you can provide to us would be greatly appreciated. Steve and Sue from Sydney

Great hotel--get a balcony if you can afford it. Have lunch at Albergo Olivedo at the dock in Varenna.

Have dinner at Bilacus in Bellagio. Reservations required, but only a day or two in advance. Ask the hotel to book for you.

Thank you Jean and Bob. I will reserve a balcony room for two nights. Do you think we should stay for three ?

There is certainly more than enough to "justify" you staying three nights. You'll love it there.
If you can't get a balcony room, just make sure you have room facing the lake.
I also heartily recommend Bilacus. And, it's an easy walk from the Belvedere.
