BELLVUE SYRENE OR EXCELSIOR VITTORIA

Hello

Has anyone been to these hotels and which would be the nicer, e.g. quality/service/rooms?

Thanks so much, Joanie

Have been to Excelsior Vittoria twice and were very satisfied with hotel, location (right in the center of town but in a priate garden), views (out over the Bay of Naples), service, pool, grounds (very pretty) and parking.

Breakfast is fine.

You don;t want to do other meals there - since they sometimes have tour groups and thus have non-Italian "Italian" food. But there are a ton of rstaurants in the town within easy walking distance.

I have stayed at the Excelsior Vittoria and loved it. The hotel is just off the main square, Piazza Tasso, and is set in lovely grounds on a site that was once one of the villas of Emperor Augustus. The view from the terrace in the back of the hotel of the gulf is stunning. There is also an elevator accessible from the terrace that will take you directly down to the marina. The view up towards the hotel from the marina is also lovely. My room was large and beautiful, complete with a separate sitting area. The service was excellent, and I was greeted with prosecco upon arrival.

Down Corso Italia (right out of the hotel grounds entrance) on the right is a delicious gelateria. Across from the entrance to the hotel grounds is a nice cafe, Aurora, where I had dinner.

With the incomparable location and luxurious accomodations, I would definitely recommend the Ex Vitt.

And I've stayed at the Bellevue Syrene and loved it. I liked the location a bit removed from Piazza Tasso although still within walking distance to everything. There's a small public park across from the entrance which is a gathering spot for the locals in the late afternoon and early evening.

The Syrene has about half the number of rooms as the EV and is more boutique-hotel feeling. IMO, the EV feels more grand and formal. The Syrene doesn't have gardens/grounds or a pool, but the cliff-edge terrace is wonderful at all times of day. It also doesn't have a conference center, so no large groups of business people taking over the bar or lobby. The breakfast is good, and the breakfast room has a postcard view of Naples and Mt. Vesuvius.

I don't think you can go wrong at either hotel, but I think the atmospheres are different.

Can only comment on Excelsior Vittoria. We loved the location, the grounds, the pretty interior, our two balconies and the incredible views.

I know both very well and I prefer EXCELSIOR VITTORIA.

We have stayed frequently in both hotels and completely agree with Jean. If it is within your budget, a sea view room - with terrace, is wonderful. We only ever eat breakfast in these hotels as lunch and evening meals can be a disappointment.
