Bellgio Ferry info
We will be staying in Bellagio for 3 days. exploring region, we will have a rental car. Should we take people ferry to Tremezzo or car ferry and later drive west to Stresa? Thanks for your help.

I am quite familiar with using this ferry - - both pedestrian-style, and with a van, to and from Menaggio, Bellagio and Varenna. But I cannot entirely understand your question.

Can you explain further? How are you getting TO Bellagio - - or is that part of the question?

Best wishes,

Rex
Sorry we will be staying in Bellagio for 3 days and exploring the area. What is nicer, using the pedestrian ferry and then walking the sites of Varnna & Tremmezzo. Or should we take our car, walk and sight see then drive over to Stresa and sight see? I need coffee to make any more sense, hope I was a little clearer. Thanks REX

Varenna, by foot would seem to be fine.

Tremezzo, perhaps either one, but when I was there in Sep 2000, the Tremezzo stop was closed (temporary?) You can explore a lot along the western "coast" from Menaggio to Tremezzo (Villa Carlotta) to Cernobbio (Villa d'Este) to Como itself. Spend a day out on the lake itself, if you can afford it.

And whatever you do, try to arrange a visit to Villa Balbianello!!!
I'd recommend leaving your car in Bellagio and taking the ferries to both Varenna and Tremezzo. (Actually, the ferry for Tremezzo goes to the next town, which is a walk of mere minutes to Villa Carlotta and other sites in Tremezzo.)
