Bellagio - Hotel Florence or Hotel Belvedere?
Hi there,
As part of our honeymoon, we're going to Bellagio for a couple of days in September. We're trying to pick between Hotel Florence and Hotel Belvedere... same price, including breakfast for a room with a lake view (no balcony / terrace). Any thoughts / preferences? We've heard good things about both places. Just wondering if anyone's got information that might tip the balance. Thanks. |
The Florence seems to be closer to the "downtown" if I can use that term and the various shops, restaurants, and so forth as well as the ferry dock for when you want to get out of Bellagio (which does NOT take a whole day to see) for Menaggio or Varenna. Please don't be fooled by people talking about "charm" and quaintness...we were just at the Lake last week...make sure the place you pick offers the amenities you want.

I infer from the previous poster that he/she was not terribly enamored of the Bellagio area.
I come from a different direction: Bellagio...the whole area, in fact...is wonderful. And there is a lot to see there (more than a day's worth) and other towns that you can reach by ferry. Of the two hotels you mention, I can only speak about the Belvedere. An excellent facility with a wonderful staff. We enjoyed being a 10-minute walk away from the docking area. |
If you get a room at The Hotel Florence, I would suggest you not get a lake view room. They are located in front where the hotel bar is also located (which was loud until 4am). I would get your views during the day (you can also take ferries to the other towns) and then use the night time for more, let me say, honeymoon-type endeavors.

Both are good. Pick the Florence if you like to be in the action--pick the Belvedere if you want more serentiy and lovely views.

We stayed at the Belvedere last week. It was gorgeous and we loved the idea of the 5-minute walk down to Bellagio for dinner/gelato/etc. It was nice to have the pool for a little r&r after travelling all day (does the Florence have a pool?) I think they have re-done the rooms on the 1st floor so you may try and request. I LOVED everything about Bellagio. It was our second trip in 5 years and we go to Italy at least 2 times a year.

Thanks for all your help, folks.
We've decided to try the Belvedere... serenity and beautiful views sound perfect. Thanks again. |
