Bellagio

Is anything open in Bellagio at the end of October?

Maybe half; maybe less. Search "deirdre" here, and look at her web site. Or write to her. She lives on Lake Como.

Best wishes,

Hotels that are located in that area and the ones that do close for the season generally do so in November.

We were there in mid-October and just about everything was still open. I believe Singletail is right about the November closings.

We were there Oct 31 - Nov 4 and a lot of places were closing about the time we left. While we were there, it was fine.

We were there just before Peep -- the last days of October. We had trouble getting hotel accommodations and ended up at the Hotel du Lac in Varenna which we enjoyed.

If you can afford the Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni (*****), it is usually the last hotel to close. Other hotels will close earlier, and the last will follow the Serbelloni's lead and close when it does.

When we were there, several shops and restaurants had already closed for the season. During the day, the streets were fairly busy, presumably with day-trippers. After the sun went down, it was nearly a ghost town.

We stayed at the Metropole. I didn't think it looked like a ghost town at all, but I did think that about Varenna. We went there one afternoon and virtually everything was closed. Maybe it depends on the year?
