Belgium, Netherlands and Denmark
We are planning a trip to Belgium, Netherlands and Denmark for June 2011. We will try to fly with miles and are thinking about flying into Brussels, taking a train to Amsterdam, flying from Amsterdam to Copenhagen, and flying out of there back to the US. Another option is doing the opposite (flying into Denmark and out of Belgium). Any suggestions? Besides the capitals, which other cities should we visit. We will be there for only 8 or 9 nights.
Thanks, Clau |
That's a very rushed trip for only 8 or 9 nights especially when you factor in travel time from one place to another. Sorry but you barely have time to see these 3 capitols as it is, much less side trips. Is there any way you could extend your trip or possibly eliminate one city? As much as I loved Copenhagen I think a trip in this time frame would be more doable if you see only Belgium and the Netherlands. There are many great side trips from Brussels and Amsterdam and you wouldn't feel so rushed.

If you want to see more than just the capitals you need to drop a country as P_M says. if you are happy with just the capitals it is doable but tight.
What are you interested in seeing? Museums, architecture, engineering, countryside, seaside? Maybe then we can advise you more on where to visit besides the capitals if you are prepared to drop one. |
We went to Belgium and The Netherlands last summer - flew SFO to Brussels using frequent flyer miles. It was pretty easy to use the miles for flights in and out of Brussels. We tried Amsterdam and struck out on flights with reasonable connections and all of that.
We had 2 weeks and stayed in Brussels, Bruges, and Amsterdam. We thought this was just the right speed - saw a lot of stuff, but weren't rushed. We took a day trip to Delft as well. We had planned more day trips - to the Ardennes and to the Belgian coast, and to The Hague - but we ended up spending more time in the towns we were in rather than doing the day trips. Partially due to weather (our coast day was rained out) and partially just to have a more relaxing time.
