Belgium mints 2.50€ coin to commemorate 200th anniversary of Waterloo

When the French vetoed plans for a €2 coin commemorating Waterloo, the Belgians found a Eurozone loophole and minted a €2.50 one instead.

This is great. I hope they are giving them out as change in Waterloo next week.

Great article, don't think we'll see these in general circulation. They'll be snapped up. You can order one here for 6 euros;

I think there is a silver coin as well. Given French history I'm not sure why they were so sensitive.

Especially since the Belgians simply provided the venue.

The UK has also produced a coin, again not meant for general circulation I think it's a crown.

Of course, the €2.50 coin won't be legal tender in France.

Yet again, the Frogs' thin-skinned chauvinism is the real barrier to European union.

When will the rest of us be allowed to kick them out of the community?
