Belgium Day Trip - Brussels or Antwerp?
 

I am planning to take a day trip to either Brussels or Antwerp while I am in Amsterdam in November.

Any suggestions (either pro or con) on which would be a better city to see?

Antwerp. Very walkable, and it's closer to Amsterdam than Brussels.

I second Antwerp. Beautiful city centre, easy to walk, closer to Amsterdam.

Here's a vote for Brussels. Beautiful city and lovely train ride with scads of windmill sightings.

Antwerp. I was there two weeks ago. Made an afternoon and evening day trip from Haarlem. Beautiful laid back city. Great mussels.

Though I love and enjoy Brussels a lot, I would say Antwerp because you're coming from Amsterdam. Full of hidden treasures for you to explore.

Gent: very nice historical centre, nice museums, very good restaurants, everything on walking distance...

My co-worker from Belgium recommends the cities in the following order: Ghent, Antwerp then Brussels.

I vote for Antwerp. Love the city, easy to navigate...favorite hotels are the white lily and when I can't get a room there, the hilton on the club level.
