Behind the Scenes Eiffel Tower Tours

Am wondering if anyone has taken a behind the scenes Eiffel Tower tour? If so, what was your impression and which agency did you go through? I think there are a few.
My husband is interested in this and I think he would enjoy it, but I'm wondering if it would be of interest to me, since I'm not all that interested in the mechanics of things. Is there enough of interest to make it worth to the less mechanically inclined person like me -- such as historical insight or special views? We would be fine to split up for a while and he could do this on his own.

It's actually a pretty cool tour, and you learn a lot about the design of the tower that is not normally known: elevators normally work with counterweights in a vertical shaft. How do you design an elevator that works on a slant? You'll hear all about and see Eiffel's ingenious invention (using hydrolics).

Pretty any tour company that can sell you tickets should be fine. I think you need to be incorporated into a group, though… unless things have changed since I went.

Here's a blog post on the subject of the tour I took with some pictures from below. http://tinyurl.com/mpuyoz4
