Beer,Music, & Schnitzel
 

Will be in Cologne & Frankfurt mid Sept. any suggestions about a great bar to hear good german music ,beer & schnitzel?

Bier is good anywhere in Germany. Whild in Frankfurt go across the river to Sachsenhausen. They have a number of good pubs where you can get good food, good bier, try the applewein and German drinking music (thats the only kind they have !!!). Don't try the applewein and bier on the same evening however. <BR>Art <BR>

Frank: Just about anywhere, but stay away from fast food like "Weinerwald". <BR> <BR>Art is absolutely right about Sachsenhausen. It's just s few blocks south of the Main River on the east side of Frankfurt. Around Rittergasse Strasse, you'll find dozens of pubs of various ethnic backrounds, but predominately German. Some are drinking halls which serve food, but mainly beer and wine. Our German teacher took us down there for our last class when I lived near Frankfurt and we had a great time singing and drinking with perfect strangers. We stayed until closing. After that, we were pretty much regulars. <BR> <BR>Try the schnitzel and pils at the Zum Bockchen on Rittergasse and ask for Edwin. <BR> <BR>Remember, "Beer after wine and everything's fine, but wine after beer and nothing is clear".

In Cologne, you should visit the brewery pubs. They also sell local specialities (not just Schnitzel). The Frueh is okay, located in the city centre and used to tourists, so you might start there and then continue to visit some others. <BR> <BR>By the way, in Germany we have a similar rhymed rule about mixing beer and wine but it advices the opposite of the english rule.

Sachsenhausen is the ONLY place to go for fun in Frankfurt. It's Party City.
