Beef in London?

Is it safe to eat the beef now in London? And has any one stayed at the Chesterfield Mayfair?

Yes. I ate it at the height of the problem and I didn't turn into a mad cow. Just a cow.

Hi Coll,

Yes, it is safe.

Is now -- and always was. Even back in the height of the problems the only thing you were advised not to eat was meat on the bone.

Hi,

Almost missed the Chesterfield Mayfair part of your question....

Last stayed there in July 2002. The Chesterfield Mayfair is a 4star+ hotel in a very good location in an upscale neighborhood. Nearest Underground stop is Green Park, about a 5 minute walk.

The standard rooms are smallish, but furnished to a very high standard. The hotel is air-conditioned, and on a side street that has a bit less traffic than many in central London. Makes for a quieter stay than some hotels.

The Chesterfield is a mid-sized hotel, not a huge, impersonal complex. The staff is efficient and attentive (without overkill). There is a posh restaurant in the hotel, and other dining options nearby ranging from a decent pub down the street, to a Pret-a-Manger and other spots within a block or so. You can safely sample beef products in any of these ;-)

Hope this helps you.
