Beauty Salons in London
Any recommendations for a beauty shop that does hair, nails and pedicures in London? Will be in London on 5/2 & 3. Would probably have to be a walk in (no appointment necessary) as we are getting there on Monday AM and leaving for the Cotswolds on Wed AM

Elizabeth Arden Red spa on Davies St. is a very classical choice, however, you make no mention of your budget, and what style you're looking for.
You could also try in store services such as "Nail Haven" at Selfridges, or somewhere in Harrods (possibly in their new spa). |
Looking for a haircut and definately a pedicure. As far as budget, I buy my GBP with American dollars so 30 GBP range
|
you want hair, nails AND a pedicure for £30?
capa in Mayfair charges £35 to £45+ depending on how senior your stylist is, for a cut/blow dry. And places like the Hair Shop I think charge over £40 for a cut/dry. |
You're unlikely to find a pedicure and cut for £30 in central london I'm afraid - even mediocre salons are ridiculously expensive here.
If you're staying near any towns in the Cotswolds, you might be better finding local salons there. Outside london salons tend to be cheaper, friendlier, and much better value. |
There is a shop called Bliss London on 60 Sloane Avenue, very trendy and famous but with a nice atmosphere. They have also a branch in Harvey Nichols. I have only seen it from the outside, but it looks very nice and i heard very good comments. I think there are other "bliss" but not connected with the one stated above as far as I know.

Oh sorry, they are only a beauty spa, not a hair dresser. I think it will be difficult to find something like you are looking for in your price range in central London:-(

"I buy my GBP with American dollars so 30 GBP range"
Yes, the rate is certainly that little bit more expensive than it was, say, three or four years ago, but the dollar - in recent times - has never been on par with the pound. When I travel places such as Malta where I only get around 0.66 Liri to my pound, I don't look aghast...simply convert the prices back to your native currency. I'm sure that you'd spend more than 50USD on such treatments at home. In London it's hard to get a haircut for a man under 30GBP, let alone a manicure/pedicure/woman's haircut. You should be looking at a spend of at least 100USD. |
I just can't see any way that you could get those three services for £30. You might be able to get the manicure/pedicure for that, but not the hair too. Your best hope if you can't go beyond that budget is contacting the top salons and see if they have a training day planned during your trip where you could be a "guinea pig" for a trainee stylist.

The Bliss Spa in NYC would put you back more like $100 (doubt it would be less in GBP) + so that would not work, how about Toni & Guy in Covent Garden? Or the Sassoon shop in Mayfair where you can have a student do it with supervision?
Or just get a haircut and do your own nails? Price and added factor of being a walk in, I don't think you are going to have much luck. Maybe you should do this before you leave? |
I live in the North of England where prices are much cheaper than London.
You might get a natural express manicure for £8-£10 and a basic natural pedicure for about £15. Hair is more expensive, perhaps £30 if done by a fairly junior stylist. |
Sorry I mislead you all I wasn't looking for all three for 30 GBP but 30GBP each. I appreciate all the responses.

£30 I would think is hard to do in Central london but pricey for a manicure.Go to a nail place as I thought they had nail bars the last time I was over or a department store will have a manicure place. Tony & Guy in Dublin do hair and have an in-hpouse group do manicures so try them but the haircut will cost you.
If not I know some people who have gone the route of the Vidal Sassoon school where they train students and loved it. |
