Beautiful Venice
Any advice on budget accomodation in Venice really appreciated.
Where is the best as in convenient place to stay in Venice. We'll be arriving by train from Florence. What are the MUST do's in Venice. How long should we stay there before heading on to Milan or French Riviera? Anything and anything re: Venice much appreciated. this forum is incredible. |
Hi
My wife and I went there a couple of years back and I have posted a trip report on my homepage http://gardkarlsen.com/italy_venice.htm . Maybe you can find some useful info there :d Regards Gard http://gardkarlsen.com - trip reports and pictures |
Dear H,
A lot of the information you are seeking will be found in Helpful Information: Italy 2 http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34568596 I suggest that you combine all of your questions in one thread (First time to Italy) so that we can keep track of your itinerary. ((I)) |
You might check out my three "favourite" threads on Venice; you'll easily trace them if you just click on my screenname.

Good morning harcourt,
Just the word "budget" can mean different things to different folks. To some, 30E for a hostel is budget; while others, anything under 200E is budget, or higher. So first, set your price. You'll get a lot more answers that way. "Where is the best as in convenient place to stay in Venice." Well, it could be that you can't have your cake and eat it, too. If you want true budget accommodations, I suspect near the termini would be your best bet. But that would probably be the furthest from the main "attractions", so to speak. But remember, nothing is that far in Venice. I've walked to St. Mark's Square from the termini, and even with luggage it wasn't too far, maybe 20-30 minutes with many stops for photos. I would say the further away from St. Mark's Square, the more budget prices you'll find. Check out venere.com. They've got lots of listings in all price ranges, and it's very easy to navigate. Happy travels! |
