While being attractive and young can be a benefit in some ways while traveling, I have also found it to be a problem. You cannot walk alone, eat alone or do anything alone without getting to much attention from locals. It eventually becomes very uncomfortable in some countries (i.e. Italy) when you are being followed all the time and when people are constantly sitting with you at dinner, without your permission. It makes me a little nervous. While men notice me in the states, they are not nearly as aggressive as many European men.

Can we honestly say that this isn't the case in large cities in the US?

Why, Scarlett, I know you and Great Beauty must have much in common, though you speak from different centuries. Beautiful to the very core, I am certain.

In the last few years, I've become very aware of my change of status. The only heads that turn now are grey. By simply aging, I've lost much of my power in the world. Thanks heavens, I never relied too heavily on my looks and have a great career that doesn't rely on my physical appearance.

So, you golden girls, enjoy it while you're young.

Faded Beauty, I don't agree with you. There are women in my cardio-boxing classes who are in their 60's and they look fabulous, without and ounce of fat or ripple in their skin. You can still look great if you just try to exercise, eat a healthy diet, stay out of the sun, and take special care with your clothing and grooming.

My dog is beautiful. He has brown curly hair.He is not thin exactly but not fat.Hee has amber eyes which makes him quite striking. But the best thing about him is his great personality.Everyone likes him,he gets preferential treatment where ever he goes. They love him at Barneys NY.I am sure he feels sorry for all the less beautiful dogs out there.

This post has practically NOTHING to do with the subject (which was...I forget) but to correct my mistake many posts above. The Lana Turner movie to which I referred was The Postman Always Rings Twice. They Knew What They Wanted was another great blonde..Carole Lombard as I remember.

Oh dear it is me again and I hate to have to keep correcting you all but really Scarlet...Melanie was you sister in law (briefly) not your sister. Your sisters were Evelyn Keyes who wrote a biography titled "Scarlet O'Hara's Younger Sister" and Ann Rutherford who carried on with Andy Hardy.
ps I am the prettiest
