Beaune looking for accommodation suggestions
We are planning to spend a week based in Beaune in early July 2017, and are looking for accommodation suggestions.
We would like either a B&B or either a gite style self contained accommodation. We will have a car and plan to tour the Burgundy area before moving further south. There are so many choices, so hoping to narrow it down. |
Do you mean a chambre d'hote? Or maybe a small hotel. In the small hotel category, one where I stayed for about 10 days, kind staff, just outside the town wall, with parking inside the property well off the street: http://www.hotelbretonniere.com/en/

Thank you MmePerdu for your reply. I did a search for accommodation at hotelbretonnaire for the dates from the 3rd July 2017 for 7 nights and there seems to be nothing available.
At this stage we are open to any suggestions. |
It may be that their calendar isn't taking bookings yet. But booking.com shows availability for your dates.
|
Ok thanks, I thought that may be the case. I will look at booking.com

We spent a week in the Apartment Place Monge and loved it!!!

Thanks for the link Jamikins.....Apartment Place Monge does look lovely. Did you get to see the other apartments as well?
Is it located within walking distance to the centre of town? I will have to look up your wonderful trip information, which I always enjoy reading. |
It is right smack dab in the middle of town...perfect location.
We didn't see the others but they are both also central I believe! |
TBH anything in the ring road is going to be central and an easy walk to anything else in the ring road. Beaune is very walkable.
|
Thanks Jamikins....I didn't realise they were in different locations. I will investigate further.
We chose Beaune over Dijon for the smaller feel and easier ( I hope) to explore the surrounding area. |
I will be talking about this place in the next day of our trip report, but in September we stayed at Les Jardins de Loïs, and it was one of the best lodging experiences we have had...ever!
Great location...wonderful hosts...terrific breakfast...fantastic shower...Park-like backyard is perfect for enjoying a glass of wine (maybe from one of their bottles). http://www.jardinsdelois.com/en/esprit/ ((H)) |
If you'd consider Dijon, I'd suggest myhomeindijon.com. It's a charming apartment in the heart of town and Coco is an exceptional owner! We had a wonderful time in Dijon and our every need (and more) was met by Coco.

Are you familiar with the long-standing tradition of renting gîtes (translates as something like "home") in France? Usually Saturday-to-Saturday, but in recent years often more flexible, and in cities now available as "city-break".
http://en.gites-de-france.com It was the first such institution, before VRBO and AIrBnB and - of late - one we have used extensively, www.housetrip.com They all provide the comforts of home, fridge, kitchen, etc., either freestanding houses or apartments. |
Thanks for the great suggestions. Maimaitom I am really looking forward to your next instalment....and that B&B looks lovely.
goddesstogo we did consider staying in Dijon...but we will just do a day trip there by train I think. But would love any must see recommendations. michelhuebeli yes we have stayed in gites before on previous trips. They are a great form of accommodation...a bit more space and amenities to enjoy. Not sure whether to stay in a B&B or an apartment...generally when staying a week somewhere it is nice to have a bit more room to spread out.But its also nice to be a bit pampered by your hosts. We would like accommodation within the centre part of town...walking distance to everywhere. |

You're doing the lord's work, Dukey.

aussie, when you're in Dijon, consider doing the 'owl walk'. Go to the local tourist centre an pick up a map. It's a self-guided walking tour. You follow the little bronze owl plaques; the map will tell you where they are and give you a little description of what you're seeing when you get to each spot. It's a lovely and interesting walk on a pretty summer's day and because it's self-guided you have plenty of time to stop, browse in shops, have lunch or a mid-afternoon glass of wine!
|
Thanks for the tip goddesstogo. We are looking forward to visiting Dijon.
Did you go to Lyon as well? |
No, unfortunately we didn't get to Lyon. Next time, though!
