Beaujolais or Chateauneuf du Pape

Hello! I will be traveling to Lyon and Provence in late April with three friends. We only have time to spend one day touring vineyards and we're torn between Beaujolais and Chateauneuf du Pape. Any advice to help us choose would be much appreciated. Also, any "don't miss" spots in either?

Thanks very much!

If you have just one day, I'd recommend Chateauneuf du Pape--it's fairly compact and so easier to get from one vineyard or tasting room to another.

Beaujolais is very spread out (especially if you're thinking of visiting the various cru villages)--it's more of a region whereas ChndP is a town.

Do you care about the type and quality of wine that you want to sample?

If you do go to Chateauneuf du Pape, have lunch on the terrace of the beautiful Chateau des Fines Roches.
