I think the pass was one of the best places I've seen in Ireland.

Got a few pics if you want to see them, to decide for yourself. Last row are Healey Pass pics.

You are going the opposite way we went. We went from Kenmare to Crookhaven.

Here's what I would recommend. Crookhaven, thru Bantry to Glengarriff, down to Adrigole, up the Healy Pass and on to Lauragh/Ardgroom, to Eyeries, over to Castletownbere, back up to Adrigole, Glengarriff, and on to Kenmare. Next trip we'll have more time and head down to the bottom of the Peninsula and take the cable car over to the Island.

Castletownbere is a great place to stop for a pub lunch. Lots of nice pubs. It was tough to pick & choose.

The road between Adrigole and Glengarriff is excellent, and you can really cruise in both directions.

When you get to the top of the Healy Pass and head down the other side, there are a couple of places near the top to pull off and take pictures. As we were pulling up to the top to park, I noticed the car in front of us opened up its door. The wind was really swirling at the top, and all their maps and papers were sucked out of the car, and their was no way they could recover to get them all. I was amazed and learned a great lesson before I opened my car door.

P.S. The road between Glengarriff and Adrigole, there is a sign directing you to turn right to go up the Healy Pass. We went down a couple of blocks past that turnoff, and there was a little tiny pub. Cheapest Guinness we found in all of Ireland. ((a)) ((b))
