Beaches via Public Transportation

Jump to last reply

I'm planing my trip for end of August. I'll be in Istanbul and I'm also toying with the idea of going to Cappadocia area.

I would like to spend a few days at one of the beaches. I do not want to rent a car so I'll be relying on public transportation. I understand that this might require a long train or bus ride to get within reach of any beaches and that it's high tourist season.

I'm looking for a nice beach where I can go swimming and relax. I'm looking for budget accommodations and inexpensive restaurants. I'm not into clubbing so nightlife scene is not important to me. Bonus if there's hiking trails. I'm eying the Mediterranean coast but the Black Sea is suppose to be nice too? I've not been to either coasts.

Patara Beach came up in my searches as well as Marmaris, Iztuzu and Gokceada Island. Most of these seem pretty far (7 hour flight so google says) and wonder if there are closer options?
