Beaches near Pisa/Lucca - "Bagni"

My husband and two teenage daughters will be traveling in Tuscany in July. We are looking for a beach to go to for part of the day when we are visiting Pisa and Lucca. I see where Versilia has beaches that are the "bagni" type where you pay to rent the spot with umbrella. Does anyone have any experience with any particular town/location? I'm not sure where to start to find a beach where we can do this. We will have a car for travel. Maybe we just drive up the beach and there will be signs advertising?

Thanks for your feed back.

Forte dei Marmi is a really lovely beach town in between Pisa and Lucca. We spent the day at a beach club there but I can't remember the name. It was fabulous as you got the recliners, umbrella, there were washrooms/showers, and a little cafe, plus waiters came out onto the sand and took your order for drinks. Heaven!
I think if you Google beach clubs or bagni Forte dei Marmi you will find a few.

Thank you for this information raincitygirl. I will do some searches.

Anyone know what the going rate is for renting the umbrellas?

Grosseto is a sweet seaside town with a nice sandy beach.

There will certainly be signs along the beach road alerting you to the various bagni.

Here is a list of 68 seaside bagni in the province of Pisa, and you can see the locations on a map:

Here is a yellow pages listing for Lucca; just look for the word Stabilimenti di Bagni; do so on the link I posted above, as well, as not all are actually bagni.

And here is a sample daily price list for one of the Pisa baths:

For a day, you would pay maybe 30 euros for an umbrella, two recliners, a table and use of the showers and changing room. They usually have lockers you can use also. If you want more services than that, such as a private dressing room, you pay more. You usually also pay more for being closer to the surf. The services may be in short supply on weekends. I would go there as early as possible on a weekday to get the best selection.

Unless you have your own chair, towels, and umbrella, the bathing establishments are the way to go.

Thank you all! I will start my research now with the correct terms!

Lucca will take a day--Pisa a half day---when might you swim?

Anyone in your family have a military ID? There's a nice American beach, but you need the ID.

I like Forte dei Marmi myself.
