Beaches in Spain?
Going to Portugal and then Spain for my honyemoon, and we're looking for some nice romantic beaches to take a few days rest at. Any recommendations?

When are you going and are you looking for a secluded stretch of beach, or the typical tourist Mecca? Beaches on the north coast are generally nicer, larger and less crowded then those along the Costa del Sol, and can't be beat for breathtaking views and sunsets, but are not all that that warm until mid-July.

San Sebastian!! Gorgeous beach, beautiful city, amazing food!! My husband and I just spent 4 days there and it is breathtaking!

we're going in early June - and looking to avoid the hordes of tourists. Will it be too cold at that time? thanks....

It's still early in the season, but the weather should be fine. If not, then there is always the city to explore.

it might be too chilly for the northern beaches, and the water would definitely not be pleasant. although the area is fabulous in many ways.. food, beauty, scenery, etc. etc. but if sunbathing and a beach is priority. you will be guaranteed warmer weather in the south obviously.
your southern beaches are better at that time of year, and assuming you leave portugal through its southern route, more convenient as well. NERJA is a very nice area.. low key. east of malaga, and south of granada. there is info here in previous threads about great hotel there. interesting lighted caves also. spectacular. sometimes they have concerts in them. for romantic places, check out www.paradores.es to see the spanish historic hotel system. some castles.. but all are in excellent places. |
