Beaches between Rome and Florence
I want to spend a couple of days at the sea side, but we only have 2 days to spare between Rome and Florence. Is there a good place to go on the coast that is between Florence and Rome?

I haven't been there, but Viareggio is supposed to be a decent sea-side spot. It's easily accessible by train from Florence.

Viareggio or Forte dei Marmi are nice seaside towns if you like sandy beaches. For dramatic rocky cliffs down to the sea, try the Argentario peninsula. (Porto Santo Stefano and Porto Ercole are the two main towns.) We stayed last month at Hotel Torre di Cala Piccola in Porto Santo Stefano. Very nice hotel, fantastic location, but there is no beach in the sense of sand and a place for the kids to play.
